Florida Nonopioid Law – gGastro Workflow Suggestions

Effective July 1, 2019, the state of Florida requires providers to inform their patients of available non-opioid alternatives for the treatment of pain before prescribing, ordering, dispensing or administering an opioid to their patients.

 

With this in mind, we have prepared some gGastro suggestions that may assist your practice in complying with this new statutory requirement.

Configure a PIF per Service Type

You can configure a Patient Interview Form (PIF) for specific visit types in order to default specific information, such as medical history, and ensure that pertinent information is not overlooked.   For example,  we can create a PIF for an IBD visit that already contains the relevant IBD diagnosis codes by default.

Customize Findings and Interventions Descriptions

Once you have documented a Finding or Intervention using the gGastro ribbon, the system will auto-populate the narrative from those details.  You can easily customize the finding or intervention description that appears in the note without modifying the billing codes that were generated.

Prescribe from a Task

When receiving a gGastro task requesting a prescription, you can easily access the prescribing panel and complete the request (and the task!) within minutes!

Tracking Pathology

You can easily track your pathology by setting an expiration date for Pathology Orders.  Configure a standard expiration date per vendor to ensure that every order created for that vendor can be tracked consistently.  This way, nothing slips through the cracks!
