Changes in minimum iOS system requirements planned for early 2021
Dear Valued Clients:
This update impacts practices utilizing Apple devices with gKiosk™ and gGastro Mobile.
To stay in line with Apple’s recommended iOS security standards, Modernizing Medicine Gastroenterology will be updating our minimum iOS system requirements with the gGastro v. 5.0 release, currently scheduled for early 2021. This requirement will impact gKiosk™ and gGastro Mobile.
What does this mean for your practice?
For gKiosk:
If you haven’t already done so, please update your iPadOS software to iPadOS14.
If running gGastro Mobile on an Apple Device:
If you haven’t already done so, please update your iOS software to iOS13 or iOS14.
These will be the only supported iOS versions for each application in gGastro 5.0 and later. To ensure continued functionality, all iOS devices should be updated to the minimum iOS version prior to the gGastro 5.0 release.
When will iOS14 be available?
Apple released iPadOS 14 on September 16, 2020 and it’s currently available.
Please note: If you have automatic updates enabled, you may already be running iPadOS14 and/or iOS 14 on your devices.
You can check your iOS settings on your devices by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
Will we have to upgrade our equipment?
We do not anticipate any hardware depreciations from Apple at this time. All of your current devices should work with the latest versions of iOS.
We believe that this is a necessary upgrade to help protect your practice and patient information, as Apple no longer supports their older iOS versions once they release a new iOS and it is not possible to ensure that unsupported devices and operating systems remain compliant with industry security standards.
